"I have many visitors, who come to buy an orchid hybrid to place it in their hotel room or hang it on the verandah of their bungalow to enjoy the beautiful flowers during their stay on Lanta Island.

Baby orchid plants from Thailand in a sterile bottle at Lanta Orchid Nursery on Ko Lanta Island, Krabi Thailand

However, as it might be not allowed to import certain species, especially orchids, into some foreign countries, I decided to sell bottles with living orchids. They are grown from seeds in a sterile bottle and therefore exempted from any CITES regulation. They contain 3-5 plants depending on the species and I normally have a choice of 5 or 6 different species available. Each bottle comes with a detailed instruction for care of orchid seedlings in English, Swedish, German, French, Czech and Russian language. To download, please click here (pdf file 168 KB).

Magnetic cards with orchid pictures from Thailand at Lanta Orchid Nursery on Ko Lanta Island, Krabi Thailand Artificial orchids from Thailand at Lanta Orchid Nursery on Ko Lanta Island, Krabi Thailand

Other guests asked me for souvenirs that are related to orchids but easier to take home than the flowers. So I decided to look around and found some things.

I started to sell magnetic cards with orchid pictures and ordered small artificial orchids that are similar to real ones. They are made from 'Japanese Clay' and are looking so natural that some visitors at first glance do not believe they are artificial.

Orchid Jewellery from Thailand at Lanta Orchid Nursery on Ko Lanta Island, Krabi Thailand

I also have marvelous jewellery creations. They are made from real orchids, which have been covered with a protective coating and are then lowered into tanks of base metal for 12-14 hours, depending on the orchids' size and form. This preserves the flower's real shape and gives the flower strength. After optimum strength is reached, jewelry accessories are soldered onto the plated pieces and then undergo further electroplating for additional strength, some with a final plating of 24K gold.
